There is a interesting behaviour in Windows that has cause some customers problems.
When a Windows computer wakes from Standby due to any mechanism that does not involve user input (e.g. a Wakeable Timer) Windows considers the computer to be unattended. When this happens Windows activates the Unattended Idle Timer which will cause the computer to return to standby after 2 minutes unless a key is pressed or the mouse is moved.
While this behaviour makes sense it does cause problems when administrators want to use an eiPower Scheduled Power Policy to wake their computers from standby in preparation for users arrival each morning.
Unfortunately according to Microsoft there is no way to change the value for this timer.
eiPower versions post Auckland and Tokyo address this problem by detecting when a computer is in unattended mode and regularly resetting the timer.
